The spatio-temporal changes of cropping patterns in the black soil area of China: Lessons from Wangkui County

A reasonable planting crop pattern can effectively contribute to maintaining soil fertility and ensuring stable growth in the black regions of China. This study aimed analyze evolution cropping patterns Wangkui County between 2002 2021. By using ArcGIS ENVI software, during which visual interpretation was applied, we interpreted three rotation cycles based on classification data remote-sensing inversion crops for 2002–2005, 2010–2013, 2018–2021. Our results indicated that maize, rice, soybean were major accounted a total 87.02% farmland our period, while dominated by continuous maize cultivation (31.25%), mixed (29.01%), maize–soybean (24.48%). Specifically, mainly distributed south-central west-central parts, whereas rice spread from northwest southwest. In addition, rice–soybean tended gather southwest north central part, rice–maize presented tendency radiation diffusion county’s region surrounding areas. could provide practical basis establishing high-yield efficient models areas
